How To Get Candy Out Of Carpet

Halloween is around the corner and you know what that means… candy! Most likely more candy than you’re used to. It’s common for it to stick to places you’re not used to having it, like your carpets.

If you have chocolate or gummy bears stuck to your carpets, don’t freak out. There’s a way to get it out.

Removing Chocolate from your Carpets

  1. If the chocolate has dried, start by taking a butter knife and scrape off as much chocolate as possible. After scraping the chocolate residue, vacuum directly over the stain to remove excess flakes.
  2. Next, cover the affected areas with a few paper towels.
  3. Take your clothes iron and set it on the lowest, non-steam setting possible. Move the iron over the paper towels slowly. The heat and steam from the iron should remove the chocolate from the carpet and stick to the paper towels.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 as necessary until chocolate stain has disappeared.
  5. If any stain remains, apply a household cleaner to the area and gently agitate it with a clean white towel. Be very careful to agitate it gently to ensure you won’t cause damage to your carpet.

Removing Gummy Candy from your Carpets

  1. Put some ice in a zip lock back and put the ice directly onto the candy. This will harden the gummy candy so it will be easier to remove from the carpet.
  2. Take a butter knife and scrape away candy.
  3. After scraping the candy, vacuum over the area to remove any look particles.
  4. Take a sponge or a white towel, and wet it with warm, soapy water. Take the towel and agitate the candy in a circular motion.
  5. Cover the area with a clean, white towel or rag to soak up any remaining liquid. Continue to pat the area dry until wetness and gummy candy are fully removed.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 as necessary if stain remains.
